About
It started at my family dinner table.

I grew up listening to stories about the characters that made the world interesting. Those stories were legendary and demanded telling and retelling at countless family dinners. It wasn't until my freshman year at the University of Texas at Arlington that I fathomed that I could tell stories like that, too. Now, I get to do it professionally.

I began as a student journalist for my campus newspaper, The Shorthorn, where the privilege of covering student government was a personal coveted prize. My campus offered a wealth of opportunities for communication students—which is why I later got to be a reporter and backup newscaster for our campus radio station during the COVID-19 pandemic: an experience that would remind me of the importance of community reporting.

At Star Local Media, a company providing local news through nine individual papers in Collin, Dallas and Denton counties, I get to tell the stories I feel will inform and engage the community both online and in print.

The digital stage is constantly changing how we communicate, but the fact remains that meaningful storytelling is a cornerstone of how we can make connections today. I am grateful to be a part of that.
